The phase inverter change makes the volume controls work slower than on a stock 5E3 (which can go from 0-100 quickly) as well as lower the gain a bit and stop "farting out". If you prefer higher gain, you can easily change the preamp tube from a 12AY7 to a 5751 or 12AX7. Overall, I'd say this amp is a bit more "bold" sounding than the standard 5E3. Or a bit more commanding of a sound... Kind of like a 5E3 and mini-Bassman hybrid. This amp can use either a 5Y3 or GZ34 rectifier tube, depending on your tonal preference. It is also cathode bias, which makes changing power tubes (two 6V6's) a breeze. The controls are identical to a 5E3 - this does not have tremolo. It has a custom wound Heyboer power transformer and a Classic Tone output transformer. All top shelf components chosen by a small boutique builder here in the USA. It is in perfect working order and housed in a Mather cabinet that has blackface-era cosmetics. This amp sounds amazing and is extremely well built. The 10 WGS Veteran speaker works great in this amp. If you've been interested in a tweed deluxe, you should check this one out. The amp was just serviced in January 2021 to ensure everything works as it should. Please check the pictures carefully as they are considered part of the description.
