Looks like an LG-3, sounds like an LG-1. Perfectly straight neck (No Need for a Neck Set).Manufactured in Kalamazoo in 1964 (serial # 170138). Beatutiful, Unmistakable Ladder Braced Sound. Original Hard Shell Case Included (fully functional).
This is quite a rare find. Here we have an LG-1 that was made to be indentical to an LG-3 (natural finish, gibson deluxe tuners, rosewood bridge, etc), except it has ladder-bracing across the top.Although its highly debated as to how it compares to the sound of the more common x-braced guitars, many seek out the unique, bluesy sound that can only be heard from a ladder braced guitar such as this one. As indicated by the serial # (170138), this LG-1 was manufactured in Kalamazoo in 1964. It was stored properly in its original hard case (included) over the years & never aggressively played or toured with. This guitar has tons of life left in it. This guitar shows the typical cosmetic wear that you would expect to see on a guitar this age, with some nicks, scratches & what not but overall there's nothing too major.
There was a crack filled / repaired at some point on the back of the neck where it meets the headstock but it was not cracked all the way through, as well as a hairline crack in the finish only (not through the wood) just above the bridge which was also previously repaired. The rosewood bridge is a tad beat up looking, but is still fully functional. Its always stored with losened strings, but it holds a tune quite nicely.
