A rare opportunity to own a piece of history - a Raven and Bacon Piano, part of a company begun by John Jacob Astor in 1789, this Square Grand Piano is in amazing ORIGINAL condition. Crafted of Brazilian Rosewood and measuring 81" W x 39" Deep x 40 tall, this piece looks beautiful but needs some work to be completely playable. Inside, the piano is complete but not all keys play effectively. The soundboard needs cleaned and serviced, as do the strings.
The cabinet is in excellent condition given the age of the piece, but does have marks, rings and blemishes, some of which are shown in the photos. The massive legs thread out, and the pedals remove so the main cabinet breaks down to 81 x 39 x 16. The weight of that main piece is significant, likely 400 lbs or more.
We moved it with four stout men. There was a lot of grunting and rolling involved. The piano company changed names several times during its history, and only carried the name "Raven & Bacon" from 1862 to 1872, according to internet research. Item location is in the City of Portland, OR. The item "RARE 1860's RAVEN & BACON Square Grand Piano Original Condition, Local Pickup" is in sale since Tuesday, October 29, 2019.
