It appears in the beginning the owner tried to protect the top from wild strumming by adding more pick guard material to the upper bout. Over time the glue let go and when he removed it he took the finish with it, not a pretty sight. The rest of the top and bridge have the typical cracks you see in a 56 year old guitar.None of them are the result of impact, just expansion and contraction over time. None of the top cracks are open so only.
See the photos for more detail. The back and sides are highly figured Brazilian Rosewood and the are in great shape, no cracks, no problems. The best news is the string height is very acceptable 1/8 at the 12th fret and it DOES NOT need a neck reset as many guitars of this era do. See photo at 12th fret. It's ready to play just like it is or do some cosmetic work and have a really nice guitar. Either way you get that big Martin sound that will knock the dishes of the wall. This guitar has been in storage a long time and needs someone to love it and let it's voice be heard again. Note: Inside the guitar the initials FAD were written - barely visible in photo of sound hole in listing.
