1977 Gibson L-5S Electric Guitar, beautifully refinished, TP6 tail piece, case

The L-5S is without question the most lavishly appointed and most luxurious solid bodied guitar in the history of Gibson Guitars. The abalone inlays in the double bound neck is jewelry grade and gorgeous.

Just a look at the binding surrounding the fret board, the famous Gibson Flaming Chalice on the headstock, and the magnificently interesting combination of flame and quilting on the body, the wood cavity cover, and everything about it is representative of Gibson's best ever work on a solid bodied guitar. The Guitar's condition is impeccable. It has brand new frets with a dead perfect plecked action, perfectly crowned and French polished frets. It is a 1977 Model L-5S, which as you see has the improved TP6 fine tuning tail piece, as opposed to the earlier Art Nouveau trapeze tail piece that sustains less and makes the entire guitar of out of tune when you break a string.

This guitar was owned by a nationally renowned touring freelance guitarist who used this guitar for 17 years, and with over 100 major label artists of widely varying genre's from the David Letterman Orchestra, Ron Wood, Bo Diddley, Gato Barbier to Merle Haggard, Tito Puente, and numerous other artists of every definable genre. His desire was to give this guitar a new beginning, starting with a complete makeover by Chase Gullet of Chasing Vintage Guitars. Chase is know for the most phenomenal guitar finishes to be seen. The guitar is near perfect - with an "old" minor ding in wood on the front of guitar near one of the pickups. The finish and clear cover it perfectly.

The Action, setup, playability is impeccable. The case is not pictured, but original and complete. It has heavy wear on the edges, a faded but discernible Gibson logo, the hardware on the case is in good shape with minor pitting/ surface rust. The handle is very good.

The interior is red/velvet form fitting with pouch. The interior fabric is worn with a few wear points here and there. For a 40 year old case that has travelled the world on tour.... Item will be sent fully insured, signature confirmation, and be packed properly. Please pay within 12 hours.
