Like any guitar that is 50 years old, this guitar has travelled and has a story.

I can confirm that the neck plate is a later addition to the guitar which according to David Mercer. An expert on Rickenbackers, Fender and Gibson etc , that it was common in the 1970's to add a neckplate due to these guitars having a one piece design neck heel. He also confirmed that the guitar was refinished later on; this was a natural blonde originally. It is pencilled inside the switch cavity "NAT", which was common in the Rickenbacker factory in the 60's. He also discussed that there is strong evidence this guitar was probably a 12 string instrument that was updated back to a 6, and refinished, which again was common in the 1970's on the 12' string 450.

Again it was common on the. Model that there was a design fault with loading of the strings. He also mentioned that yes the capacitors and bridge are genuine Rickenbacker, but are definitely a later addition which should not really effect the value too much. Anyway who ever buys this guitar will know its a rickenbacker right away as soon as you play it. Anyone genuinely interested in viewing the guitar in person are welcome to inspect it or have it inspected. It's a cool 66' Rickenbacker that's been gigged, loved and played.
