This explains this particular transitional type which features the earlier brown tolex, as well as, the later Fiesta Red top. Shortly thereafter, sometime during 1965, the Rhodes Piano Bass evolved into the more common Black tolex/Silver Sparkle top variety most famously used by Ray Manzerik of the Doors. This Piano Bass is in incredibly fine museum-quality condition, so if you've been waiting for a good one, well, this one is the best. This example is extremely well-preserved, and it displays in an exceptionally fine manner. Most would assign a "mint" assessment to this Piano Bass, as it's very difficult to find a cosmetic defect.
The original Dog Bone hard plastic handle is perfectly intact, and the original skirted Daka-Ware brown pointer knobs are as well. They keys are pristine, and the Brazilian Rosewood trim is in beautiful shape. There is one corner on the lid that shows slight wear through to the maple cabinet, otherwise, there are no other imperfections. This keyboard works perfectly, and is surprisingly in tune. The item "1962 FENDER RHODES PIANO BASS VINTAGE ANALOG SYNTH SYNTHESIZER KEYBOARD" is in sale since Friday, July 08, 2016.
